Red is on a five-day cruise that her boyfriend, Joe, gave her as a surprise. It's certainly a start on her quest to travel around the world. But strange things are happening aboard the ship, from having a warning from her dead husband to seeing her dead aunt. Red is an observer, and she notices the antics of her fellow cruisers. Then strange things start happening to her - and they don't stop once they've landed and gone back to Nuggetville. She's decided to help one of the passengers, and that's when she notices that they're being followed. Then almost hit by a car. Who is after them?Apparently I got a copy of the second in the series, but fortunately (or unfortunately, if you've already read the first one), everything was rehashed from the first volume, so I was more than comfortable that I'd started with #2. This is not a very deep and engrossing tale; it's more concerned with the large cast of characters that are on the ship and live in Nuggetville. The mystery is sidelined by making sure the reader knew every detail from the first book, playing Cupid with the citizens of the town, and Red's inability to not help people. Thrown in are the regular visits by her sassy aunt and the fact that her dog is supposed to be her reincarnated husband. I know, this is all supposed to be light and fun, but this was a mylar helium balloon of a book - more concerned with description than story, and lighter than air. But the sex? It's like it's from another book altogether.
Red herself is a conundrum; she's only 39, yet she speaks and acts like she's 80. Who that age even knows the word "tuckus," much less uses is without being ironic? Plus there's too much giggling, which annoys me greatly. That's for little girls, young boys when discussing something naughty, and women trying to hide something. I freely admit that is something that's my problem, no mystery about it.

Red is an Attitude Red Mojo Mama Book 2 edition by Kathy Lynn Hall Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
Kathy Lynn Hall did such an excellent job developing her fun, quirky, good-hearted characters in Book One that cracking open Book Two was like catching up with old friends.
The story opens with Red and her boyfriend, Joe, sun bathing on the deck of a cruise liner, enjoying some peace and relaxation, which doesn't last long. Before they know it, they find themselves embroiled in a mystery involving a love triangle. Things turn dangerous when Red seemingly becomes a target of revenge.
Though the plot is a lot of fun, the characters make the story for me. Hall, an excellent writer, knows how to carve out a character that rings true. She nails the superb voice of Red whom I liken to Stephanie Plum, a mature version of Stephanie Plum that is. Red is someone you'd want as your best friend; Joe is a guy you'd like to date; and their friends at The Springs, the mobile home park Red inherited from her aunt, are coveted neighbors. In other words, Hall's main and reoccurring characters are all that they seem caring, loyal people. For me, that makes this series refreshing and a pleasure to read. However, I recommend reading Book One, Red Mojo Mama, first to really get to know this wonderful set of characters.
Red is an Attitude Red Mojo Mama #2

In this book Joe takes Red on a cruise, pet friendly, of course, so they could take the new puppy Mac along. Now, we know Red... yes, she finds all kinds of trouble along the way. Trouble she thought was long gone. She also makes new friends along the way and gets a new purpose for her life.
First we have Barbie with her Sugar Daddy, then the Sugar Daddy's wife shows up. Okay, Barbie has a name, Cindi, is it any better? Henry has been married to Agatha for many years, and now that she is on board he is determined to get her back, he realizes the mistake he made.
Red gets Agatha her own room, and includes her in their on board group, which is made of their dinner partners. She offers her an empty trailer back at The Springs to get back on her feet while making a decision regarding Henry. Agatha takes to Evelyn and redoes her hair and nails then she accepts Red's offer. Oh, did I forget to mention that Bob and Evelyn came on the cruise with Joe and her?
While on the cruise twice it seems that someone is trying to hurt Red, but both times get explained away.
Once back in Nuggetville, Agatha gets an admirer almost immediately. And starts going out with him. Well, as Red put it, Henry wasn't around, so yes, they were separated.
When Agatha and Red go out one day it seems they are being followed, so Red goes to the police, the checks into it and find the car was a rental, it has since been returned, so they let the matter drop. Until Agatha sees the young men while she is out with Blake one night and they make an off handed threat. Come to find out it is Agatha and Henry's nephew and she calls Henry and tells him to stop it or she will never come home.
Then the next day her nephew and friend save her and Red from a car that tries to run them down.
It all works out in the end, with lots of laughter, a few possible tears and a couple tense moments. Red's past with the city council comes back to haunt her.
A delightful 5 stars of fun. It was a great read, a must if you read the first with the third on its way out. What oh what can Red get into in this next one? Small town life was never so exciting.
